Winner of the call #CrossHeritage – Young artists for the Savoy Residences, promoted by the Regional Directorate for Cultural Heritage and Landscape of Piedmont within the Plan for Contemporary Art (MiC), in collaboration with the Association of Young Italian Artists.

Rumor has it originates from a research practice that begins with the observation of place as a narrative and relational space. Realised at Villa della Regina in Turin, the work explores new ways of connecting historical heritage with contemporary audiences.

The project unfolds as a visual and interactive journey through the villa, where figures with contemporary appearances inhabit the historical spaces, guiding the viewer’s gaze toward architectural details and often overlooked perspectives. The practice brings together key figures connected to the history of the villa from different historical periods, generating insights that evoke episodes, traces and memories capable of revealing the layered value of the site over time. Through anecdotes, curiosities and whispered stories linked to the place and its inhabitants, the work builds a bridge between past and present, transforming the visit into a process of discovery.

Rumor has it nasce da una pratica di ricerca che prende avvio dall’osservazione del luogo come spazio narrativo e relazionale. Realizzato presso Villa della Regina a Torino, il lavoro esplora nuove modalità di relazione tra patrimonio storico e pubblico contemporaneo.

Il progetto si configura come un percorso visivo e interattivo all’interno della villa, in cui figure dalle sembianze contemporanee abitano gli ambienti storici guidando lo sguardo verso dettagli architettonici e prospettive spesso trascurate. La pratica mette in relazione alcune figure chiave legate alla storia della villa, appartenenti a epoche differenti, generando spunti che rimandano a episodi, tracce e memorie capaci di restituire il valore stratificato del luogo nel tempo. Attraverso aneddoti, curiosità e racconti sussurrati legati al sito e ai suoi abitanti, l’opera costruisce un ponte tra passato e presente, trasformando la visita in un processo di scoperta.
