If-Imaginary friend starts from the survey that “two thirds of children have an imaginary friend with whom they converse, quarrel and play before they get to sleep, or if they find alone at home.” IF is a reminder to think about how much “the even provisional lack of friends naturally produces the need to project a shadow out of ourselves: a shadow with which to be angry or to confide”. Our self can be built only in the relationship with the other, true or imaginary that it is.
