Art is the only Way … from photography to video-art, from dance to installation and an illustrated guide of Ciociaria.

The coexistence of all these forms of expression is what has characterized, over time, and still characterizes my being. It is only the result of a visceral desire to know that led me to scout various forms of art which cohabit now in a sort of balance -for me a perfect balance. A balance able to give me the freedom to wander enormously in imagining a work.

The so-called “multipotential personality” widely described by the writer Emilie Wapnick, in a society that tends to place us in precise containers made of immediately understandable appellations -in order to facilitate communications -, is probably the most plausible answer to the doubts that grip a personality like mine for its entire existence. The only certainty is that Art – for me – as well as being a salvation, is the only Way. It’s a job that requires a lot of tenacity that, fortunately, I do not miss.

È l’arte l’unica strada… dalla fotografia alla videoarte, dalla danza all’installazione, fino a una guida illustrata della Ciociaria.

È la coesistenza di tutte queste forme di espressioni che ha caratterizzato, nel corso del tempo, e caratterizza il mio essere. È solo il frutto di un viscerale desiderio di conoscere che mi ha portato a percorrere varie forme d’arte che ora convivono in una sorta di equilibrio, per me perfetto, in grado di concedermi la libertà di spaziare enormemente nell’immaginare un’opera.

La cosiddetta “personalità multipotenziale” descritta ampiamente dalla scrittrice Emilie Wapnick, in una società che tende – per facilitare le comunicazioni – a collocarci all’interno di contenitori ben precisi fatti di appellativi immediatamente comprensibili, è probabilmente la risposta più plausibile ai dubbi che attanagliano per un’intera esistenza una personalità come la mia. L’unica certezza è che l’arte – per me – oltre che essere una salvezza, è l’unica strada. È un lavoro che richiede molta tenacia che, fortunatamente, non mi manca.

Dance, especially contemporary dance, lies in every daily gesture, in the same spontaneous gestures I investigate in creating a video or photographic work.

Very often, in fact, interpreting a role for a production of the Dance Company [Ritmi Sotterranei], directed by Alessia Gatta – which I have always belong to  – I had the input for a new personal work, an installation, a photographic production or a video. Each language stimulates another, I can not ignore this principle. And then, there is my land, that I love deeply. Hence IAM The anomalous illustrated guide of Ciociaria comes from: it is a six-handed project that arises from the need to restitute love to the ground that has partially marked and formed us.

I love to exalt in an almost obsessively way some the specific social and stylistic connotations of everyday life. Obviously, in a first vision, what emerges from that is a totally transfigured reality. I deeply believe that it is not so altered. Often I limit myself to grasping a gesture I had seen on the street or a reflection on the everyday life facts. Even our dreams have their own place in reality and, by fusing all these element, my own imaginary arises: a window from which I would let you look out at least once.

La danza, soprattutto quella contemporanea è in ogni gesto quotidiano, la stessa gestualità, spontanea, che indago nel realizzare un’opera video o fotografica.

Molto spesso infatti nell’interpretare un ruolo per una produzione della compagnia [Ritmi Sotterranei] diretta da Alessia Gatta – di cui faccio parte da sempre – ho avuto l’input per un nuovo lavoro personale, un’installazione, una produzione fotografica o un video. Ogni linguaggio ne stimola un altro, non posso prescindere da questo principio. Poi c’è la mia terra che amo profondamente, e da qui è nata IAM L’anomala guida illustrata della Ciociaria, un progetto a sei mani che nasce dall’esigenza di restituire amore al suolo che ci ha in parte segnati e formati.  

Amo esaltare quasi in maniera ossessiva delle determinate connotazioni sociali e stilistiche della quotidianità, ovviamente ciò che ne viene fuori risulta ad una prima visione una realtà totalmente trasfigurata. Io, in profondità, credo che non sia poi così alterata. Spesso mi limito a cogliere un gesto visto per strada o una riflessione su fatti di vita quotidiana. Anche i nostri sogni hanno un loro posto nella realtà e fondendo tutto ciò nasce un immaginario che è il mio: una finestra dalla quale vorrei farvi affacciare almeno una volta.
